I have never farmed, and I am self-employed !

Have not pulled a tractor in 5 years, business is so good rite now, I can't afford, not to make the donut's !
I've got a guy who wants to buy all (3) of the tractors i own.

I would never sell a darn one !
Once you've had a fill of work, ain't no golf ball, fishin pole, or fast car as good as pullin !

Where else, for reasonable money, can you compete, smell like fuel and dirt and have a great time !

Gentlmen start your engines !

A friend of mine told me the other day he"s sure hoping for a good year this year since he lost about $40,000.00 farming last year. He also said his fuel bill so far this year has already topped $35,000.00. I"m not too worried about losing thousands when I go pulling. You can have your fun with those fuel-hungry 4020s at $2.75 a gallon!!!!! If you"ll only run one of them, maybe you can get by for around $17.50 per hour. So you can pull a plow? BIG DEAL. Same location. Different season. You see? Everything has its own twist. I too am curious as to why you would even waste you hard working time on this board.

Sounds to me like your more or less asking how you get started pullin. You got one 4020 for the field, and one 4020 to put on the pullin track. Like the old saying goes, it only takes one trip down the track and your hooked for life. Don't bash it unless your brave enough to try it. There are worse things you could take up as a hobby.

Real simple. Because we can and because we want to. Same reason I go to plow days and tractor rides.

All work and no play is really boring....

Sorry you feel that way, I pray that someday you will see the light and realize that there is more to life then work. Most people have some sort of hobby and whether it"s chasing a golf ball around for 5 or 6 miles just to get it back in your bag at the end of the day, or jumping on top of that mean sounding Farmall and running down the track with your frontend in the air is a matter of choice. Bottom line, it"s all about relaxing. Try it, you just might like it and add a few years to your life. Charles

Why does he need two 4020's? One good Red "M" or Gold Moline or maybe A Smoke Blowing Big Ugly Canadian CO-OP will out do both of them. He probably plays golf or pitches horse shoes or is just a couch potato! Keep on Pulling

HEY!! Watch those "horshoe pitching" comments! (ha) Goes hand in hand with pullin'. We do tournaments all summer long , usually right along side the pullin. Bring your "A" game though, if you can't throw at least 60% ringers you won't quallify. Takes at least 75% to even think about winning! we don't even usually count single points. BUT , I gues we should be shoeing horses instead of having fun pitching them , right??

most all antique pullers are 1960 and older, who wants to farm with them??? after a hard week on a new deere, caseih, or agco, relaxing with what we used to have to do is FUN FUN FUN, so you get beat who cares you win big who cares, it is the fellowship and ribbing and bragging rights that make it so big

Well I don't farm but I do like tractors and if pulling a(TRAILER/sled)gets me satisfaction thats what I will do.Nothing wrong with working them doing what they are supposed to do in the field but if you own it you should have the freedom to do what you choose with it.I like the competition and the strategy and other variables involved, beats being at work or sitting home anyday.

Why waste time, energy and an internet connection questioning why someone else participates in their hobby of choice? Why not use that computer to get some work done????

The better question is; Why not do it?
If your on here asking why we pull instead of working in the field, you must be curious so bring yours out and join us. The thrill of a full pull when everyone else is spinning out is a feeling that makes it all worth while.

LumbrJakMan, You hit the nail right square on the head. It's all about fun, when you can't go out on the weekend and have fun pulling, you take life way to serious. Just my two cents worth.
