If you could e-mail me any particulars I would appreciate it - my e-mail is open and if that doesn't work (sometimes it doesn't seem like it goes through for me) it is [email protected] I think we have a good thing developing for this pull, and I want to see to it that we maintain a good reputation so that it continues to grow. One of the common complaints I often overhear is that the sled operator doesn't follow the tractors. I've ridden along in the sled a few times, and I can say that it is much more difficult to do than it looks. I also believe that some operators are much better at it than others as some don't even try to follow the tractors, but I don't think it is intentional - they just don't know any better. I think our biggest dilemma is that we have a sled that needs to roll easy enough to let a 2500-pound tractor get it moving, and yet stop an 18,000-pound tractor. The nice thing is that we accomplish that throughout the day without ever throwing weight on to or off of the sled. However, it creates a situation for potential human error in the light classes(mentioned above) as well as the heavy classes as they try to adjust all of the solenoids, air switches, and other gadgets trying to manipulate the pressure on the pan and give each class a decent run down the track. It also increases the chances of mechanical error, as occasionally the switches don't trip as they're supposed to and the person running the sled or the flagman doesnt catch the mistake. I'm not trying to make excuses, but explaining some of the common problems that are often misunderstood by those who don't understand the workings of the sled itself. Other than steering in the light classes, there's not much that can be done inside the cab of the truck that can impact how the sled is actually operating. In my gut I have a hard time feeling that any of the people that help volunteer to run the pull would purposefully cheat anyone over a 39-cent ribbon, but I been called naive in the past. If you feel that someone was blatantly cheated please let me know via e-mail and we can discuss it further and I will do what I can to try to help remedy the situation.
