M Farmall air cleaner on H Farmall

Is the idea of a M Farmall air cleaner (complete unit not just top) on a H with a 350 displacement, 165 pounds compression and a M carb and standard rpm a waste of time and energy or not?

It probably won't hurt, but I don't think it will increase the air volume. Yes, the engine needs all the oxygen it can get, the more the better. More air flow though won't give you more oxygen. Your carb will only flow so much and I do believe that pulling thru a standard H air cleaner will supply more than enough air.

Prior to a pull dump out the air cleaner oil and fill it instead with DI water. That way you will be pulling air thru water and adding more oxygen by saturating the air to the carb. If you have ever worked a tractor just before dark you will know what I mean. As the evening air, which is moist, sets in the tractor runs better because of the higher level of oxygen.

Also before pull add about 10% ethanol to your fuel. Ethanol has the OH molecule and this will also up the oxygen getting to the engine.

Thanks for your e-mail. The only reason I thought it might help is because I am reducing the M carburetor down to the H air intake tube size which is smaller by about 3/8 inch. Any other thought let me know. Thanks.

you can use a intake pipe from a Super H, 300, or a 350. they all have the E-12 carb the "M" carb on them and use the "H" air cleaner.
