Duramax supplier for mods.

Did some vehicle suffling within the family business last week. My hummin Cummins is gone after I finally had the ol' girl hummin the way I wanted it. Now driving a GMC with the duramax but I think they forgot to put an engine under the hood. I certainly can't hear the engine or the turbo sucking air from the Scotty/K&N filter. Miss that TST switch too.

Question is I need to add some mods to the truck. Any suggestions on exhaust, chips, air filtering system. Good website for a discussion forum? I need to get this durapad hopping.

Sorry for getting off the tractor topic.

Should have waited for the new 2003 Powerstroke.Supposed to be the most powerful diesel in a pickup yet.Does Isuzu have a web site? Maybe you should check there.

The Duramax while currently set to 300HP is made to produce 400HP should the competition increase their power ratings. The current stock factory Alison 1000 automatic will be shredded however at higher HP levels. A HD 1500 sereis Alison has been already prototyped should it be required.

Put a LP kit on it and you can get 70 morew HP from it... 3 inch exhaust will get you about 3 more HP. A chip can get you 30 more..

I have a 92 cummins, I put a set of performance injectors in it and a different turbo housing. It has tons of power and gets 17-19 mpg general driving and 14-16 towing 7,000-13,000 lbs. The automatics leave a bit to be desired. If I was going new I would get the new 305 hp cummins and a 6-spd but I don't have to worry about that decision for a long time.

Fred we have a duramax on the farm....have just over 35000 miles on it....we tow a 28 ft goose neck and a cattle trailer all the time...have not had a bit of trouble with it...we like it alot better than the powerstroke we had before...my uncle has a cummins and the duramax we think had a little more power....as for more power I am pretty sure banks now has kits for the duramax...might try them.

There is just over 28K on my truck. With the mods on my Cummins, it would blow the doors of a stock Duramax. However, the duramax/allison combination is far better than the dodge cummins/auto combo. At 40-50 mph range, that crap auto that dodge install jumps around between gears when pulling a 12K trailer.

Give me the bucket seats from the chevy, ford body and cummins engine/6 speed and I'd be happy.

Burns, have you pulled a load with it yet? If not you might be surprised how well they do. A couple of guys that pull with our club have them and I was really impressed.

I got our 33' camper out of storage over the past weekend. I'd guess it weights around 6500-7000 and I was very impressed with the shifting points while using the tow/haul feature.

We just got one for work. It has less that 8,000 miles on it and the injector pump assembly took a dump! And at over $5,000. THANK GOD FOR WARRANTY!
I have friend in Canada that said he saw a dealer at the local stock pickup pull drop "Two" of those allison trany's right on the track. It's more than likely a tall tale but I wasn't there to see it happen. Please someone tell me a different story on these, I don't wan't to have to keep chasing after our new shop truck all summer. Thanks

Give Diesel Dynamics a call.. they have a box for the D-max.. You will probably have to install a different exhaust, as the D-max has some near meltdown EGT's to start with.. I'll stick to my Hummmminnn... Cummins.. JDGnut
