A newly overhauled, with stock JD sleeves, pistons, cam and rebuilt pump set to the high side of spec. pulled 215Hp. But even at that the exh temp was over 1550 below the turbo. The 531A engine is notorious for extremely high exh. temps. At this level you have to be very cautious when used in the field. If you want more the block can be bored to fit 619 sleeves and cut the pistons to lower the comp and use an 8.1 turbo and nozzles, add a water injection andyou can see 325 @ 2300rpm and more as you wind it up.

Injection pump work is usually the most common way of getting more horsepower out of a stocker, then maybe different lines and injectors. Find a local diesel injection service and tell them what your intended use is and they can usually fix you up. Your not going to want to get to wild with the tractor if your going to still farm with it though. Good Luck.

If you get more horsepower, it isn't stock. What is the intended usage of the tractor and it's present condition? New fuel and oil filters will often return 20,30 even 40% of lost HP. Much more common problem than most people realize.

Yea right, John Deere sold many a 4440 that had 150 horse plus. Good thing you didn't run Deere&Co. You would have brought them back to the factory and DE-TUNED the pumps. It still exists today 8410's putting out 30 more than rated!!
