So, What would be the safest combo for power without having to do alot of work to the block? I would think a 4.25 to a 4.310 bore and a 6.25 stroke. I would like to go as big as possible but only build this motor once. What kind of rpms do most people run these motors at?
Thanks,
Charles

A 6.25 stroker crank has no value in todays pulling world. I would highly recommend not wasting the money ! Depending on the division you want to pull in, a 281 block gives you many options, (depending on club rules).
At 4.25 bore, your pushing aproxxmo 62thds out of the stock cylinder wall, (sleeves removed), at 4.31 wall thickness becomes more critical.

Pushing max bore in any overhaul is every bit as important as stroke, that's where the c-281 block comes in !
a 436ci farmall, with the rite components, will give you many years of competetive pulling (4.375 x 7.25").
If at this time, that's not an option, then stay where your at !
I'm putting together a 370ci motor, and it's not big enough to pull division 3 in my club, and outlawed, where I was going to place it !
Have no regrets about the dollars spent, just have to travel an extra 100 miles to pull !

Hope this helps

Thanks Bud, I'm in the process of ordering rims and tires for this tractor. Anybody use the Firestone Superall traction II tires?

So run lightweight modifed. Mafia's SM pulled fine in the light class. Did not run worth a crap, but it pulled good. Motor dont mean squat,, its weight placement. You would be surprized what 100hp would do in the right class and weight. its only more tires, rims, and hitch to get there! Come play with the big dogs!

4.25 bore 7 1/8 stroke, you won't have any problems, 115 honest HP at stock RPM. Will run for years.
