With a 4 3/8 bore do you just pull the sleeves and run on the block? He is running M rods with H rod ends welded to them. He is running fire rings at the top. With a 4 3/8 bore can you use stock head gasket? I say again I am not familiar with a 4 cylinder engine. If we could go with that size bore and retain the stroke we are running it would save some money. I don't really want to do another crank. What do you do with the sleeve groove at the top? "He" is my father who is at the age where he still loves pulling but has decided when the motor won't pull itself any more he will just quit. I would like to come up with a block or something that would work so he could continue to do what he enjoys. Sorry for all the questions but I do appreciate any input. Thanks!

The motor is still together. The welded rods were kind of a question but at 10 to 20% rpms we haven't had any trouble yet. (Been running for five years) Just trying to fiqure out which direction to head. Thanks

Gotta bore the block to 4-3/8 on a SM-450 block. 450 head gasket with the flange rings may be very close to working out, but copper gaskets are available too so you are covered. Im not a fan of welded rods, but what proves to work, works, I am not one to argue. Seen alot of M"s with welded rods and still running today,, they dont really run them fast rpm wise,,, but they still hold thier own. The sleeve flange grooves are filled in by a ring custom made, pressed fit into the block and bored to the actual size. Do you have pictures of any of the parts, or is it still together??
