I have found that an electric wood planer works better than a grinder for the tops of the bars. The rubber comes off in ribbons instead of powder. Work on several bars at a time so when one gets warm you can switch to another. Use carbide blades rather than HSS blades.

We like to use soapy water and bristle brush before each pass with the planer. Cleans to preserve blades and then helps to cool.

Do you mean how many top cuts can you do with a cutting disc. I borrowed a 4 inch disc to do a v cut 14.9 top cut a 15.5 and a 16.9 and the guy I borrowed from had the disc for at least 10 years and it still cut like mad! These dics are not cheap so consider the one to do all!
