John Deere Power Block ?

I am looking to stroke an A power block and increase the compression. Since power blocks have no petcocks, how will I be able to start it with a starter? Do you drill holes and install petcocks? Just wondering what set up to use.

You drill up right behind the headstuds at the bottom with a 1/8ish drill. This will be aprox. 1.1" down from the top of the block(you might measure how far your stud actually screws in to be sure). At 1.1 down from the top of the block you should come out into the cylinder just above where the sleeve seats into the casting. Then follow up with a #R drill (I think its #R) and drill just deep enough for a 1/8-27 pipe tap. Then you can use brass valves w/ pipe threads for your petcocks.
