Zenith carb ?

what would cause the fuel pump to push fuel through the carb and out the vent tube that comes out on the air inlet side of the carb? the float is working properly. this is on the 1 7/8 inlet carb like off the 7700 JD combines. please help. we pushed compressed air into the tube trying to clean the carb. also, where can you buy rebuild kits for these carbs?

the tractor ran good, we took it to a pull and it had a miss to it under a load at high RPM. we brought it home and started cleaning the carb with compressed air and this is when it started blowing fuel through it. don"t believe fuel pressure is the issue

If you pressured the float bowl with compressed air, I would bet that the floats are flattened out. Also check to make sure the floats are empty(no gas inside) I had a brand new one that had a small crack that let gas in but it would not come back out. Only was able to find crack was by putting float in freezer and then into warm water.The increase in temp. would make a few small bubbles appear at the crack.

Theres an ecerator pump that vaccum operated in those carbs it could have took a crap on you, Treadwell advertises about everywhere he keeps the kits, There in Treadwell,NY.

Yes, but if your pulling it the best thing is to remove it, knock a freeze plug in both side to block off the passage they always work better after that. The pump was a early design of that carb. for old truck applications they will make a tractor surge if the gov. is sensitive.
