A guy that pulls with us uses a bicycle tire with a speedometer. You can see him in pictures from NATPA. It's a Massey 101.

GPS calculates velocity based on change in position. Since it's only accurate to within about 10 feet, and you are only moving at 3-8 MPH, (4.4-11.7 ft/sec) - I don't know the sampling rate, but if it sampled every second, you could be off by quite a bit. You do the math... Not real accurate.

Maybe you could try picking a gear that's close to the speed limit and not sandbagging.

What about taking a speedo from a bicycle. Get it to run on the rim using a small wheel. Run your tractor to desired speed and mark the point on the dial. Might take a few trials, but it"s cheap. Charles

if they use an agritronix speedo,, get you a remote display module,, pick up the frequency and you have LIVE data to look at right off the sled.

Does the GPS (like the Magellan 200 or others) have a big enough display to see while pulling?

That doesn't make sence. The GPS on the sled works indoors, why wouldn't a hand held one ?

It's not a GPS unit on the sled. It is a high speed electronic counter
