i have never seen the like of so many kids that call themselves pullers.get on Y.T asking for everyone's free help.if you are going to run good pay a pro to build your motor,if you can't do it yourself.if you could do it yourself you would't be asking all of those questions.and if you can't pay a pro just run stock and stop crying.

I am a Green horn or Wannabe puller I guess you could say. I ask questions all the time or check here and read what others have to say. I put together my own stuff but I don"t spend alot of $$ either on big motors. I just want to have fun with what I have! I may not be at the top of the heap when I do pull but by asking questions I just might be the guy that gets by someone when they make a mistake.

what do ya pull ?

And what could be your complaint !
Is the garden tractor missing on one !

I just don't get tractor puller's anymore, I don't get the sport, I have no idea why you would spend the money, and or why you would loose to cheaters ?

Each an every club, board members, in their own ignorance, have their own agenda !
just talk to anyone for 2 minutes, they will expose their color (tractor), their classes pulled, and how they want the club to operate !

Have never met a puller yet, that didn't want to win over, because of his own pride !

Now you all go hot !!

I'd have to agree with you. I don't see many tractor pullers using them out in the field or even for ANY farm work for that matter. I people were smart, they would build a tractor with more power and put it to good use ans use it for the big jobs around a farm like say... filling silo ( running the blower with it)or discing. you get my drift? that's what i did before. just built tractors to have more power and then put them to good use, not pulling. just my 2 cents. I know of many pullers who go out of there way to help others and give ( good ) advice when someone ask. The reason these pullers do this is because it keeps the sport going ! Myself, I"d rather have the respect and trust of others then a ten dollar prize.

Well, the thing that has happened is that pulling has for some become either a business or some people just take it too serious, what I mean by that is they get somthing to work or figure somthing out and then you friend wont tell you how to or what to, then friendships become ruined all over a 75 cent ribbon, an old puller I know once said that he would never give out any tips or secrets, the gentleman is up in years, and will apparently take the things he has learned with him on his way out of this life someday and then no body can use what his knowlege was. Seeem like a waste, I would help any one with what I know, but some of the pro pullers are just way to arrogant to give any assistance, I like the old way of borrowing weights, losing by 5 inches or beating that guy you never think you would be able to , it is so sad to see a sport we all enjoy, get turned into a competition to ruin fellowship and friends.

I would help anyone. The green horns I'm talking about are the ones that want someone else's hard work. You need some help to get started but, you have to pay your dues to the sport. If you need to know things like what kind of flywheel you need and you don't get an answer don't cry, call someone that knows.A good motor builder can help. And by the way the green horn hasn't kicked my butt yet because his tractor isn't running yet!

Where else can one look? Time is the only dues anyone needs to pay when it comes to dedication to the cause. Some, think that the info they have is priceless and has to be kept a secret. So be it,,,,, if its that darn good they can keep it, and we have all the fun beating them. if I have an answer, Ill give the info if I can help, we all do, and I belive we all would infact jump in and lend a hand to anyone who needs it. What gripes me on YT is so called people call themselves pullers, and sit back and heckle everyone else,, and turns out, they dont even own a tractor. THAT,, is what spoils the fun, that, is why some dont jump out and let themselves be heard, in fear of ridicule, threats, the list goes on and on etc etc. Im glad and more than willing to share info,, so is everyone else,,,,, if no answer,, keep on askin! Someone will jump in there!! JMHO,, chad

All thats allowed is a .125 overbore kit for that particular tractor. Stock stroke. I dont see anything wrong with that,,,, The stroker tractors should step up and build back up the modified classes. Chad

What will "Farm Stock" be..???

Any engine you can stuff in the frame and paint the right color..???

Seems that is the path being taken lately...

I mean, a kid pulling his family's original JD "A" against another "A" that uses funny fuel, and has to have 24 Volts and open petcocks just to start it...???? AC's that are "Hard-Blocked", with 400 cu in against Stock Original Cockshutt 20's..???? Who are we kidding, this can't go on...it HAS to change..!! If it takes 2 tracks to get it done in one day, so be it, but Split it up for Gosh sakes..!!

Well,,,,, , we have classes for the one stock A and be in a class thats just like em. Id have to say, that our farm stock, is a warmed over farm stock,,,, pretty tough running machines that swaer they are stock in everyway. maybe they just pull well, or they have the higher hp to help em, or both,,, Gotta be a stock block casting number, what they dont see, and wont see, they wont know about. Bad to say, but its true. Chad

Thats what happend to our farm stock last season. Lots of the old mods dropped back into farm stock. it really diminished our mod classes, but man did it stir up a battle in the farm stocks! So they went to the stock crank rules, which is new,,,, We have a new class just for that big deere,,,, 7501-10000lb special farm stock,,,, same rules apply, but heavier weights to run the wheatland tractors. Lots of G molines wating in the wings,,, we did away with the wheatlands for a while due to tire size problems,, but they opened it up so you can run 18.4X34's or whatever under that. Should be a good class! Get a chance,, stop by and check us out! Chad

They just wanna keep to there own little group and forget the rest of the world exists. Just my opinion. Me, I want to beat the best or get beat by the best!!! What about YOU?

There is a difference between someone on this page fishing for general, how to make my tractor pull better questions, and a guy at a tractor pull who either has specific questions about tractor pulling or has a tractor there and is a new puller.
Don't usually respond to general questions on this pulling page, but really enjoy a good conversation with people who are interested enough to either bring there tractors and try them out or come to pulls to gather info.

When I started pulling 21years ago a few guys gave some pointers that are still true today and I appreciate them for it. I have borrowed weights and gave out advice that bit me in the a$$ and I will continue to do the same. I will tell anyone any thing I know because I like to new pullers get started, that is what I like about pulling, friends working together and having fun. If someone can't stand losing pulling is not for them, I know, for i have been handed my share of losses, not that I don't mind doing good. I dream up alot of my own stuff, I have the means to buy a turn-key puller but what fun would that be? Don't be afraid to ask me a tractor question, I won't mind answering.

That's all part of it, how can we expect the sport to stay healthy and grow if we are now tilling to help the newcomers. We all were rookies at one time. Nothing makes me feel better than a new puller asking my advice and me being able to help him.
My wife gives me the devil for giving out advice, lending out tires, and revealing what she thinks are big secrets. It's tractor pulling, it's suppose to be fun, no big secrets, just have a good time.

I too decided i would help anyone who asked, to the best of my ability. This, on more than one occasion has cost me a place or two, but knowing you might have made someones day a bit brighter is worth more than a trophy. No one is getting rich at this, so have fun.

I"m a mechanic by trade, so the engine wasn"t a problem, but I needed and received a lot of help on the setup of the tractor, how to read a track, where to place weights, what gear to use on what track, what tire pressure to use, etc., etc., etc., Thanks to all!!!!
