I know of dry block Ms with 5.25 pistons, but what are some of the big inch Div. 3 guys running? How big can I go without having to go waterless?

Thanks,

CPR

Most Div 3 M's are running 4-3/8 to 4-1/2 some bigger, most running water in at least the top of the block staying under 500 cubes. There are 4-7/8 and maybe 5 inch motors that are still running water. There is a Baker motor that is 5-1/4 x 8 inch, that is the biggest M going right now.

I think someone needs to look at the ruler again. 5.250? I have heard that 4.500 is pushing it.

I wonder what kind of HP and torque numbers that engine puts out. I bet it sounds good running down the track. I bet you could buy a new truck with the price of that motor alone. :)

That 693 does sound good. Another of Mr. Baker's customers mentioned the number 450 for horsepower. It is completely waterless. Good for power, but not convenient for moving around a pull, needs a tow...

OK, if I'm "safe" at 4.5" pistons, will I need to install them in a C-264 or C-281 block, not the M block?

Also, if guys are running 4.5" pistons and staying under 500cid, why are they not also running an 8" crank (509cid)?

Thanks for all of your help. It's getting me pointed in the directions I want to go.

Try emailing www.Murphysmotorservice.com
They can answer anything about what you want to do. He had said they were going to build some "kits" for the Farmall M. Good luck
