I think its great if you are an IH guru or a John Deere weenie. The 466 cube limit sucks! Must be no one wants a 504 Case or a 585 Moline to beat them. Just my opinion, and we all know I am an idiot! ;)

If Jason in Il thinks a Case or MM can't win an out of field he hasn't been to enough pulls. I have seen old 1370's wax much newer stuff and I have no doubt that I could make a 1570/2590 compete in field classes. They are good for at least 300hp out of the box with no pump or turbo mods.,now let's bolt on a 3lm466 and do flow and pump work and see what happens!! PS remember those nasty G1000's that used to pull?

You are correct on the G1000's, they did do well. But the ones that did the best were propane powered witn nitro in the tank. I know this for a fact because a fellow that used to live and pull in the county I live in ran a G1000 propane, with nitro in it. As for a Case, I go to and compete in pulls from central to northern IL and I have only seen a couple of them do any good, unless they are allowed to run high rpm's. I am talking 3000 or better. As for the sled guys, don't remember who, but two of them were at the Champaign IL pull this past summer, and one is from n-IL. And yes the 466's have beaten the big engines on numerous occaisons, running 26-28 mph.

Case and MM both made 451's .The 466 limit allows the Fords and AC's to compete.

The bigger you go on cubes the more the IH's and JD's will dominate. Also it gets alot more expensive.

You must not have seen any of these Pro-Farm tractors run. According to several sled operators I know, they say these are running at the same speed down the track as a lot of the Super-Farm tractors, but for a lot less money invested. As far as the statement about a Case being a strong unit, come on gimme a break. I go to pulls all summer long and I have yet to see a true Case that can compete. Heck they can even win in a regular "out of field " class. Food for thought; the ILLINI STATE PULLERS run a pro-farm class that allows up to 650 c.i., and guess what, not a Case or MM in the group. But there is a good running Massey.

Not at 466 CID. Name the several sled operators you refer too.

That class might be the stupidest set of rules ever written. NTPA did not want this class but WPI forced it on them. So they changed the rules from the original proposed rules to this joke. The changes were designed to kill the class. And these tractors will not compete with Super Farm, Pro Stock or Super Stock Diesels. According to the rules they are to compete in Pro Farm only. And only at the state and regional level. This class is the plantin` tractor class. But they`d plant corn faster that they will ever pull a sled. As much as I hate to agree with Ol buddy AC I have to on this rare occasion.

WPI stands for World Pulling Inc. It was created by NTPA amidst some pending lawsuits back in the early 80's. WPI is governed by a board of directors consisting of some of the old NTPA directors and employees. They pretty much dictate how NTPA operates. The NTPA board, I believe can be over ruled by WPI.

Close but not quite. WPI is World Pulling International. It was formed as a financial controling board in the 80`s when NTPA was nearly $300,000 in debt. Basicaly WPI owns NTPA and calls all the shots.

WPI was formed in the early eighties. The sled malfunction/law suit you refer to is probably the one that happened in 1998.
