I have a JD LA and I would like to tug pull it in our local percentage pulls. We have a lightweight class from 0-5000 lbs. I have seen many tractors pull in the 250 percent range. In these pulls the lighter tractors have the advantage because they can reach a good percentage before the track becomes messed up. My question is what can I do to give my LA a few more horsepower to just be able to tug 4000 LBS? Has anyone seen any high compression pistons out there for the LA? Would it be worth it to port the head out? Really I don't know much about this engine. Is it sleeveless? Normally I see Averys and striped Oliver 60s win this class.

My 2 cents worth, and that is about all it worth. You would be better off going with an H or M John Deere, I"ve seen them do quite well. Never seen an LA pull though, not much horsepower in an LA when compared to the M. Good Luck with your project, and have fun!
