my 460 weighs 4490 with driver with pressed steel all around.it has all the hydraulics,power steering and pto took out.is there anything else i can do to get it lighter,how light can i get it?

You could get an Alumminum floor plate and maybe a lighter radiator. I think I heard a while back that Chads had a 4000lb 460 but I'm not positive

Getting rid of the heavy upper bolster will get you alot lighter. That front end, with the pedistal is almost 400lbs!!! If the rules allow, build a custom wide front end out of tubing, or box tubing. Rigging up a POWER steering system is easy!!! My 460, with me on it is 3600lbs empty,,, I can get it alot lighter with aluminum parts, weld on hubs, light fenders, maybe a moon gas tank,top plate,,, I can see it in the 3300, 3400 lb range. Super M has seen my 460 upclose,,,, I think he liked what he seen. LOL! That front end is heavy!! Look at ways to lighten it up. Chad

In Super Farm Stock classes, No, not allowed, Modified stock classes and up, Im pretty sure its allowed. My 460 has a custom front axle and it passed for 4mph and up type classes. I took 4x4 box tubing, with plates welded on the ends, with the frame bolt pattern in the plates, slid that piece in the frame rails. took 2 more 4x4 box tube pieces and welded them on the bottom of that, then welded the axle to the 2 pieces. Its not a floating axle, its solid rigid,,,, Im gonna change that someday,,,,, As for the axle itself,, I took an old wagon gear front steer axle,,, narrowed it up to the width I wanted, and welded it to the parts I described,,,, the whole front axle, with the tires, and steering cyl was only 175lbs total. Like I said, the stock front end is well,,,,, its a heavy SOB!!! LOL! 460's rock!! Chad

first of all, start with a 300 or 350 rearend with TA delete. 300lbs lighter than a 460. Make you an aluminum top out of thin tubing, mine weighed 20lbs. disk brakes will help too.
