Hey 1206. Just read your posts about Allisons pulling at Bethany, Mo. in the early 70's. I'll bet you remember an 806 called the Red Baron pulled by the Findley Boys from Albany Mo. They kicked lots of bigger tractors around for a long time. I watched them go from milk cans full of ice to twin chargers, then they finally sold it into S.W. Iowa sometime in the late 70's or so. Just wondered where it went. No one around here (S.W. Illinois) that I talk to has ever heard of it.

I heard that story a few times, and knowing how Rusty was I didn't doubt it. The young pups on here might not appreciate what he did, but that was in the days before low-boy trailers or hoists on your stock truck. He jumped it off a flat-bed truck.

I remember it because we were pulling a 806 at the time and they were always a step ahead of us. Really nice people.

I sure do remember Rusty's Red Rocket - a dirty, oil-leaking 1256 (it said 756 on the side)that he painted with a broom. Glass eye and wooden leg. I've probably heard more stories about Rusty than anyone I've ever known. Used to trade at Hatten's in Bethany and Drexel told me some good ones about him, rolling combines, plowing in road gear, etc. He was a wild man.

Don't know how my previous reply got above your message, but yes I remember Rusty. Where are you from? I was living in Albany in the 70's. What did you call your 806?

It was called Kansas Twister. One time ol' Rusty was wanting to get unloaded and the guys at the dock were in no hurry to move and one thing lead to another and a bet was made that Rusty would'nt unload right on the street, he fired it up dropped the hammer on it, tractor landed on all fours and he got his money. He was somthing else but a really good guy. Jim
