When will spotter, etc get some guts and stand up to cheaters/whiners like Brooks, ets out of Illinois? They admit they are cheating and then whine when they get beat, cause of cheating? Kick them out, don't let let pull down there anymore! They can't pull anywhere else cause they can't conform to any rules and cause trouble! Smilin' Bill is fakin' you all out!!

Spectator2

You remind me of something that happened to me many years ago. I used to pull me Dad's 52 MM ZA, and never place in top ten with it for years. Then one year we pumped all the fluid out of the tires and lightened it up enough to get in the right class for it HP. Well guess what I began to place first everywhere we went. Now in the eyes of those that were used to beating me I was cheating. There was know cheating involved in this deal just raw HP. My advice to you is don't accuse others of cheating unless you have proof. These kinds of situations are what cause all sports to have a bad name. Read the rules and build your tractor accordingly. Some will win some will lose, THAT'S LIFE get used to it. I have never been to Tunica, but it appears to me you are the only one unhappy here.

Let God deal with it, life is to short.

I am V.P. of the Mean Green Pulling Team. I would have replied earlier, but I have been busy trying to find a tractor that will compete next year, and get away from last place.
I think we put on a good pull at Tunica. From the reports I have gotten, 98% of the people enjoyed the pull. For the 2% that did not like it, and since I am from the hospitality State of Mississippi and V.P. of Meana Green, I will be glad to take the 2% unhappy people on a quail hunt in the hills of Mississippi.
The pull reminds me of the little boy who went to church with his family. At the family dinner table, all members were critical of the preacher , chour and deacons. The little boy said,"I thought it was a pretty good show for a quarter."

It appears that I have been "called out".

Mr. Spectator2, it is apparent that you have a personal agenda regarding the Brooks family. That's between you and them and your attempts to use me or the Tunica pull to further your personal vendetta simply "falls on deaf ears". The Brooks family has and will remain welcomed participants at The Southern Nationals.

Guts?? A small team of individuals stepped out in the year 2000 just to have a fun tractor pull in Tunica. Seven events later it has become the largest antique tractor pull in the US. To take on the responsibility of conducting such an event with the knowledge that at any time some "unknown" could turn the whole thing into a disaster for not only the team but for all the pullers involved, this takes guts. And yes, the group chose me to stand out front to be the one who gets "called out" on occasion.

Guts! One should not speak on the subject unless they're ready to "stand on point"....Spotter

did you make a protest about this during the pull? That is when it is supposed to be done. if you had issues with a certain person or tractor then the time to address those is right then and not a week later.

All I said was if you are going to watch R.P.M.'s, it is only fair that you watch all of them in the class. I was not whining about getting beat.

Question 1: Why do people keep coming back to Tunica to pull?

Answer 1: Because it is a well organized event and the biggest antique pull in the world.

Question 2: How many people are complaining about Tunica?

Answer 2: Very few are complaining and it seems to me that most of the ones complaining weren't even pullers.

Call Tunica what you want. You still won't change the facts. Over 900 hooks this year and will probably be even more next year. That had to be the stickiest track I've ever pulled on. I saw more tractors stall out down there this year and wondered why pullers weren't going a gear lower. When I pulled I finally understood. Hardly anyone was used to pulling on a track like that. There were several tractors stuck like a mouse on one of those sticky traps when they got to the end.

I didn't see anything that got out of hand or looked suspicious or unfair. The 12mph boys seem to be satisfied and it all looked safe and orderly.

The Mean Green Pulling Team does a great job and it seems to me that for every whiner there's about 100 who enjoy the heck out of this event. Any business would consider that great customer satisfaction. On top of that, I'll bet the MGPT has already had some informal talks about how to improve the pull next year. Please shut up and let the many who enjoy this event enjoy it.

I'm surprised someone hasn't griped about it being too cold this year. You know the MGPT probably did that to keep someone that they didn't like from coming. No, maybe they made the weather cold because one of their members prefers cold weather. No wait! I'll bet Cecil Foley told them his JD G pulled better in cold weather and they wanted a JD to win the King of the Hill, so they made it cold. See, anyone can spout off a line of BS.

Even me. :) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Love, Lamont

Respectively, why not let this go, there is no need to just keep stirring it. It was dealt with so lets just let it go. I guess Bill has me fooled. I happen to think he is a nice guy. And yes I have a dog in this hunt, I was pulling against him. We try very hard to make everone happy but sometimes its nearly impossible. H.H.

YOU GUYS WON'T LET IT GO! YOU ADVERTISE CERTAIN RULES, THEN DO NOT ENFORCE THEM. SAY THE WIDE OPEN IS WIDE OPEN NEXT YEAR CAUS AFTER WE DRIVE ALL THE WAY DOWN THERE AND YOU LET STUFF GO. IT IS VERY FUNNY HOW DAVID BROOKS AND CREW CAN WHINE THEY GOT BEAT AT AN OLIVER TURNING A FEW RPMS VERSUS THE EXCESSISVE AMOUNT THEY (THE FARMALL 460-560 GROUP) RUNS. WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH ADRIAN BARELY BEATING AN H FARMALL!

This was my first year there pulling and I personally enjooyed the heck out of it. I am sure there were some folks there who are no quite legal but to be honest with close ot or over 400 tractors there I doubt anyone can catch them all. I pulled Farm Stock I and yea i saw folks going down the track and never bogging. I have a stout old Super M that has never bogged down until I pulled at Tunica so I know folks had alot more engine than I did but so what?

Read the rules close and most of them actually were within those, stock appearing is the most used gray area there is but did I complain, NO! My stock tractor placed 19th in 7500# near as i could tell but the distance between me and 5th was 6ft! There will always be some people out there who feel they have to bend the rules a little to win. If that is what makes them feel good they have to live with it.

Also, if you have issues with a tractor the time to make your point is not now after everything is over but right then at the pull preferable before the class is finished. My dad used to frag race and he said that most people cheated like heck on the strip but the reason no one protested is that the protesters car got tore down first and no one wanted to be caught.

If you have a problem bring it up at the pull, make a official protest then and there or be done with it. Can't anything be done about it now so it is useless.

One other thing, for everyone who has complained about Tunica, question is, are ya going back next year! I am and i know i won't have a chance ot winning but I am sure having alot of FUN!!!

MGPT, I saw alot of you in the mornings at the restaurant eating and heard ya'll talking so i know how much work is involved in putting this pull on ( well I have a good idea anyway) personally i want to thank you for doing it and hope it keeps getting bigger. Having helped pul smaller pulls on I know you can't police everything and everyone but it seemed to me you did an excellant job. My hat's off to you.
