stroking a diesel motor?

What would be the advanage to stroking a 2-cyl JD diesel. I have a 820 bored .125 over with 830 pistons and head. I am just curious the tractor is already at 490 ci.

I have a set of creeper gears for a 80-830 I would like to sell. In good shape, just don't have time to build an 820. Give me a call if interested. 410-463-1897

Thanks for the replies. I just got tractor this year and was just wondering about possiblity of stroking a diesel engine. Last pull it took 1st in the 7500#, 8500#, and 9500#. The tractor is modified to get it down to 7500. The tractor weights 6600# without driver. I'm working on a set of wheel weight brackets so I can get into the 10,500# class.

10" stroke and 8" bore makes 1004 ci. and pulls 8500lbs. in 3rd gear VERY EASY!!!!! But in mph classes it has so much torque it can be hard to hook, and can still be beat by a creeper gear on the right track.

if you double the cubes your potential to double the horse power exists.cubic inch = cubic power. there are some bored and stroked 820's at over 1000 cubic inch.Paul
