I was wondering if a M-H 22 would make a good puller for its weight class? I currently have a farmall C and a Oliver 70 I pull and they do ok. This is the first year for me pulling so i am still learning. I have found 22 i could buy but don't know to much about them. thanks for any info. Jon B. in AR

Jon:

I have seen MH 22's that are really tough in the 2500 thru 3000LB classes. There's one that pulls with the Rustic Relics club in Ark, thats almost unbeatable.

I have a Massey Harris 20, pretty much the same tractor. Mine came with a 124 cu in motor, and the 22 should have a 140 in it. The problem you will find is that it is a flat head motor, and there will be A.C. WD45's with overhead valves and more cubes in your weight class. Hard to beat. If you are going to try, I would recommend finding an F162 motor for it. Same size engine as the 124 and 140, just a bigger bore with 162 cu in. This with pertronix and a clamp on air filter
should make it more competitive. I have that motor converted to run on propane, running a T3 turbo, and fully balanced. This pulls in our Hot Farm class where we are allowed 12 miles per hour and modifications. It pulls at 3600 RPM with 10 lbs of boost. You can see a picture in the photo section.
