I am looking to lighten up my 70 as much as possible. With cast wheels and a ridgid narrow front I am at 6300 with me on it. I am taking off the cast wheels and putting tine wheels on it. I am looking to try to get into 5500. I have removed oil bath, and cut down the fuel tank. and plan on putting in a alum radiator. Is there any other sugestions. Is there any way to make it a bare bake with no pto or hyd?

John, my 70 by itself weight right around 5300 lbs. I fabricated a front end, have a lightweight rear cover, all hydraulics removed, weld-on axle plates installed, light steel rear rims, smaller front rims, pto removed, air cleaner removed and a fabricated one installed, fuel tank replaced by a 6 lb. plastic one, lightweight brackets, and the radiator replaced by one out of a compact tractor. I would still like to find another 100 lbs. to take off of it and have another possibility there. Hope this helps. Mike

Press Steel, 15.5tires, Low fuel ,5 gal trans oil,No PTO, Wheely Bars, 100 lbs front wts. driver I weigh in at 6000 lbs. Move draw bar to 18 inchs and front will rise at end of pull. If flat back and no Hyd pump I think you should make it.

Make a rear cover out of sheet metal, use about 16 guage or so. make a seat post out of light material, use a pan seat. Put the battery out front either on or under the front weight bracket. Use only about 3 gal of lube in the trans/rearend. This might get you in the ballpark. Mike

Do you think I will be able to balance the tractor very well in 5500?

You won't have much if any moveable weight. On a good track it'll probably be light on the nose. Mike
