I know that Tunica is over with, but I think there should be no problem with the RD engine. The RD was a Internalional Harvester engine, witch came in power units & trucks.Where I pull at a lot of olivers use (320 ci) engines(not 310s) witch came in (power units, road rollers, cranes)not tractors.Big difference in heads. The molines use 800hd parts, witch was a power unit engine, and if they did come in a tractor, I bet I could eat all that did.If the rules say stock appearance, other than being longer they (221,301)are similar. Most (oliver, moline)pullers are against the RD,because of competition in light classes. If heavy classes are what you want to pull, you need a (case, john deer,moline,w-9 international)because even as big as the RD is it can't compete with the big cubic inches, unless in outlaw classes(high winders).I'm currently building a RD myself, and hope to be competitive up to 5250lbs 6&8mph.All these people that are against the RD need to understand this sport is for fun,and if I don't win every time,no big deal.Just up there close with the (top dollar rides)is close enought for me.

Rule states "All parts must be of tractor origin"
This is truck origin I believe.

If it's a stock 460, wouldn't that make it "OF TRACTOR ORIGIN?"

Brockmire's have one in a 460 and I'm sure it will be there. The 800HD's were available in a tractor.. But I have taken rd501's out of power units and grain trucks, so I would think that world qualify as ag use. A red diamond engine was also offered as a replacement engine for WK-40's. So there is the tractopr origin connection. I'm sure no one will complain until you win.

Ok, so if you try really hard you can kinda make the connection to an ag motor. Don't know nuthin bout no red tractors, assuming same number of cylinders. What about the RPM's, are they that of the engine or the tractor frame that it's in?

Spotter, remember that we also said the carbs on these had to be of tractor origin. IE an updraft within 2 inches of original carb.

So, from the rules, it looks like the RD501 would be allowed in the modified classes but not the farmstock classes, right?

Of course, the rules state that you need stock motors in the Farmstock classes, so I should be able to drag the WD out of the garage and take it there. There won't be any stroker motors in those classes right?

Correct on all counts. There won't be any "strokers" in Farmstock if the rules are followed and your crystal ball is as good as mine in the regard...Spotter

So how are them rules enforced? Do you have to pay a protest fee? Only takes a few minutes to pull a spark plug and stick a piece of wire in there.

Go to greenpullers.com, the rules are there in black and white.

Info on protesting a tractor are explained in simple english.

There is a handy littile device called a whistler, srews into the spark plug hole. Just turn the engine over and it keeps track of how many cubic inches of air comes out of the cylinder. Nascar uses them every weekend.

That would work, but you would have to have someone available at all times during the pull to operate this wistler, that actually knows what they are doing.

Also, a list would have to be drawn up BEFOREHAND that lists the accepable displacement for every tractor. This way, its in black and white and no one has to make a judgement call of whether an engine is too big or not.

Not saying its a bad idea to check, but just that it does take quite a bit of work.

because they are about $1100, according to the guy at Summitracing that I talked to. They have one. For the accuracy we need, just use a piece of copper wire down the spark plug hole. If stroke is within 1/2" let it be.
