Am building a puller out of a 45 JDA I rescued from the junk pile. Is there an intake manifold that will fit the A head and accept a dual carb. - am thinking of using a 730 carb? The plan is to bore and sleeve the A to 7 1/2" with a 9 1/4" stroke. Thanks for any advice.

The 60,70,620,630,720 & 730 carb all flow the exact same amount of air. Just the fuel metering is different. Why build an A when you can build a G to do what you suggest? Both pull in the same classes. How deep are your pockets and have you ever pulled before? Bolt her together cheap with a port match, valve bowl blend, a Robert's Cam, LP pistons and a dry air filter coversion. Then work on tires, traction & ballance before trying to pull in the unlimited class.

Check with Jerry"s Machine.. I know they are building a manifold for the G"s to accept the duplex carb on to a G head.. I don"t know about the A"s... As Drew Said.. you"d be happier with the 60 gas head... JDGnut

I don't think you'll see a big advantage to using a duplex carb. Even a 730 carb is going to require modification to deliver enough fuel for that much engine. The main selling points of duplex carburetion were a smoother idle and an improvement in fuel economy, neither of which are going to be big concerns in a pulling tractor.

7.500 bore? 6.750 is some work, but not too hard. 7.000 is doable if you really want to push it. 7.500 wont even fit between the framerails. If going w/ that big of bore, use a 3.000" crankpin or 9.125" stroke w/ 3.125" pin.

A "60" head will bolt right on and then you can use duplex manifolds that will bolt right to the carb and to the head w/o any problems.

Stock power block, then yes, 6.125" is all you are going to get. When you start cutting and welding sleeves into the block is when you start getting into the 6.750"-7.000" range.

Do you have to use the power block OR can you get a stock block that big??
6.125 is probably the biggest you could get a stock block IF you just wanted to bore and press a sleeve??? Dont you run into head stud clearance problems around 6.5??
