I am looking at a couple of tractors. One is an IH 560 and one is an Oliver super 88. I want to have my son and I restore and set up for local farm stock pulls. If you had a choice which would you get for the best puller?

I have a Super 88 that I really like.It will pull from 4500lbs to 7000lbs probably 7500 if I had more IH suitcase weights.I have beaten 460's and 560's and have been beat also several times by them.I like the Waukeshaw 265(my 88 is a 283 with M&W high compression pistons)engine,it's smooth and holds on pretty good. There sure was a lot of 560's made in 1959,lol.If you do go IH most places stop off at 1959 year model so if it is newer than 1959 you might run into a snag. Both are ok

The right person can do the right thing on the right track with the right weight setup and the right amount of luck with any of them. Basically, pick the one you want to use and have fun with it. The 560 might not be allowed everywhere depending on the age, so I'd vote for the 88.

At all the pull I've been too, as long as the model of tractor was started to be manufactured in 1959, if doesn't matter when your specific tractor was made. It would be a good idea to make sure what the rules are where you will be pulling.
