Someone please explain what this rule is interperated as to the meaning..I want to make a NATPA pull this year in division 3 and need clear meaning, what does "Only stock appearing manifolds are allowed" and "no modification of manifold" really mean. can you alter a "stock manifold" from the same brand if it appears stock. Thanks

12. Replacement carburetors with no modification of carburetor or manifold. Overhang of carburetor to manifold is not allowed. Only stock appearing manifolds are allowed.

For what it is worth it reads to me that you can buy a replacement or aftermarket manifold as long as it looks stock. I am guessing that that means you can't have one welded together fro tubing ( header) and use that. Now if you can find one off of a different motor from the same manufaturer that has larger holes and such but looks like the stock one I would say it would be legal.

Als as I read it you would not be able to weld the manifold and regrind and redrill it for a larger bolt pattern even if you did a great job and it looks stock.

Just my opinion from someone who doesn't pull with either association.

I'm not trying to start a bashing war,Just trying to understand. And yes have asked several NATPA officals getting different replies.
In Div 3 (AC - WC/WD/WD45 can use D-17 engine; IH - H, 350; M, 450. JD - A/B/G can use power blocks),
But the way I read it you could not take another brand tractor with a stock manifold and do a nice job of welding a bigger flange to support a bigger carb,(it would be stock appearing)instead of going out and buying a big buck "legal" aftermarket replacement manifold that already support the bigger carb.
To Hey Retard.. If your referring to me,I do not pull USAP, Have pulled in Div 3 with NATPA with a non-stroked Div 2 tractor and placed 2nd in a 15 tractor class. And this tractor will show and parade with the best of them. This is a forum for having discussions, but there's always guys like you that can't discuss something without being a Retard themself. If you want drop me a e-mail and I'll provide you with the page and issue of Hook with the tractors' picture and results to back up what I'm saying.

What part of Rule 12 "Replacement carburetors with no modification of carburetor or manifold" don't you understand? Looks like plain english to me. I think you pulled that 77 at Sandusky. That class you pulled in only showed 7 hooks. The best of them? You only pulled 1 class, chickened out didn't you. And the only natpa event you've hooked at. Your post has to be some kind of a joke. Have you ever noticed that whenever you sit behind a keyboard, some idiot starts typing?

Stock appearing means you cannot put a set of hedders or other types of after market manifolds on. It clearly states that it has to be an agricultural type carb. It keeps from people having to go out and buy after market products to compete. If you have the money and you want to there are other places to run a hot rod tractor and you can do whatever you want to. You can call Jerry or others, they have the phone #s readily available. And I would like to know how these rules favor one brand over another? We pull with this club some and I see every brand of tractor winning so I can"t see where you are coming from. Just call them and they will be happy to answer any and all your questions

That is why that is NATPA you will not see something so stupid elsewhere!!
Come on NATPA supporters, for a class that should be about pulling, not power, why do you think that is a good rule? Does this rule favor one brand over another? If you say no, then I can understand why you support NATPA!!!

shut up. must be someone that gets their butt whipped all the time when pulling against the best. you probably have a cobbled up piece of junk that usap allows you to pull. they enforce no rules, sometime will have a problem due to the fact they have some very crude and unsafe tractors pulling with them.

the main thing that are crude and unsafe around a NATPA pull are the one enforcing the rules. Of course the ends always justifies the means so the must want to minimize the numbers of the pullers.
