I was reading the thread a few pages back about Tunica, and I have to agree that the rules need to be enforced. Lots of pullers drove several miles and spent lots of money only to be "cheated" not beat out of winning because some were not following the rules, especially rmp rules. For those pullers who try to play by the rules (which is the majority) well they will finally get tired of the rules not being enforced and stop coming. MGT and the entire Tunica area has a great thing going and if for no other reason, they should enforce the rules so that they will continue to have a top notch event. I know several that will not be back due to the rpm's and blue sled cheating for himself and friends. To the MGT: Stop, Look and Listen. Your bread and butter is the the good ol' boys who play by the rules and when they are not happy and not coming, a few cheaters and loud mouths do not pay the bills!!! If you really don't care about the pullers being treated fairly, and that will be proved this year if the rules are not enforced, then turn it over to a group that does care about treating people fair.

Hey Spotter, Ray and I got a fruit jar to take home too. His half is empty but I am saving mine for the Jeep Jamboree. I guess now I'll have to fix the damn 5 star so i have a reason to go back and get a refill next year. Jeff

this is to "probably will not be back"If you know so much about cheating then why don't you tell us your name and then we can get to the bottom of this. It sure took you a long time to send this since the pull was in Dec. and this is the end of June. All this cheating stuff is a bunch of ??? you are probaly wanting to start ??? cause you did't pull well and if you have a complaint you should stop the pull and complain then not months later.Everybody bitches about cheating but doesn't have the balls to protest the class. So to me I feel that if cheating is happening then it's up to you to protest. Jeff is sitiing on that sled for 8 and 9 hours at a time its not up to him to protest anyone. This stuff about him helping his friends to cheat has really gotton old. People like you that gets on here to bad mouth him and other sled operators are only going to see a lot of pulls ends then we will see how much complaing you do then when theres not as many pulls being put on. As you notice I put my name and e-mail address cause I have nothing to hide and I believe in everything I said.

If whoever is crying about the blue sled is talking about the one from Hillside Farms they are barking up the wrong damn tree. Jeff runs a top notch pull and does a very good job at keeping things goin straight. Jeff is one of the few sled operators who is not scared to put someone in there place if they are tring to cheat or play unfare. I am not just talking him up because I call his track my home track either. This is the way it is and if someone is cheating tell him and it will be checked.

I don't have a dog in this Tunica fight, how ever I love to pull and do have a few complants tho.The SLED issue,These new sleds that can pull a 2500 to 13000 lb.tractor and the operator NEVER has toleave his cab,add weight or anything .Carry the sled, drop half, drop all the pan WHERE EVER HE SAYS HE SET THE CONTROLS.When ever you can run the Wt.box forward and back with the motor it gets ????able.I have heard more complants of this sled or that sled in the last few yrs. There are a few out there hurting the clubs that hire them and themselves in the end.Lastly the RPM ISSUE,it can be enforced,TELL EVERYONE they may be checked at random, just listen and start checkn,It works.Protesting will only get you Blacklisted or maybe KILLED.MONEY TALKS,no IT SHOUTS.Hope to make it this year.

To Lamont ect. The DC I mentioned threw a rod. The point being that things get can ugly quick and with alot of people running welded rods (me included) there is no consistency in weld quality among many other variables. I know all about steel flywheels ect. so who want's to pull inspection covers to check? Antique pulling is all growed up now, we need to implement safety the same as NTPA did, pro-actively and not in response to an incident. As for Tunica the Shellum boy's told me had a good time and would go again!

I understand your point and know parts can go flyin' in all directions. The MGPT seems to have a handle on things in Tunica. I really think the griping that's going on is mostly, maybe not all, but mostly a FEW people who get a big surprise when they show up at an event like that and get their tail whipped, and I don't mean just beat, I mean whipped so badly they get embarrassed. The conclusion they come to is "cheater-cheater." They don't realize the quality of competition that shows up when there are that many tractors there. Not everyone who is there is the best-of-the-best, but you can rest assured that they are mixed in there somewhere. If this RPM issue, or any other "cheating" issue was as bad as some let on, don't you think there would be more than a handfull crying about it? I know a few of the MGPT bunch fairly well, and trust me, they're not going to let some idiot ruin this event even if it's one of their members or friends. They know how to say "NO = Park it." Yes, there are rules, but I'll guarantee you if every tractor was scrutinized to the Nth degree like NTPA or NASCAR, this type of pulling would die a sudden death. My tractor would be for sale immediately because I wouldn't want a 2-day event to turn into a week. Whiners will be whiners. Tunica is still the biggest ANTIQUE tractor pulling event on this continent. That speaks volumes about the way it is run by the Mean Green Pulling Team. My hat is off to them and I thank them for having such an event. (I want to let KROUTHEAD know I'm not sucking up either.)

It gets real old listening to people b--ch about cheaters, rpm's, etc. The speed and distance are being monitored at the announcer's table along with the sled operator.

Mean Green puts 800+ hooks down the track in two days. MG just wants everyone to have a good time and a safe event. For the record, there are RPM guages at the track, but there is not enough time to check each & every tractor's RPM's each and every hook, so feel free to file a protest and they will check the protested tractor and yours to make sure they are both legal.

What people don't see is that there have been people DQ'd and some even barred from the event due to illegal equipment, etc.

I find it amusing that nobody complains about cheaters during the show and no one files a protest against another tractor, maybe it's because they don't want to have their tractor checked.

Some people don't realize all the work that goes into a pull of this size, months of planning and many long hours. MG members rarely even place at their own event and they are the ones doing all the work. You never hear them complaining about cheaters and they have just as much time and money invested as everyone else.

Last thing, they must be doing something right, and some people must be having a good time because the event keeps growing year after year.

Enough soap box, ya'll come on down and have a good time. We enjoy seeing old friends and making new ones.

Well Tunica is my all time favorite pull and haven't missed one yet since they started.Anytime you have that many people participating your gonna have someone not happy with something.Goes back to that ole saying"you can't please all the people all the time".Good pull fellas and keep up the good work. The ones who aren't satisfied should disscuss thier problems with the Mean Green Team and try to work it out instead of slamming and griping. If they would talk to Spotter or some others respectibly the problem would be addressed.See ya in December.

Last year was my first time at Tunica and i was a spectator. This year if everything holds together I think I am gonna throw Jak's old S88 on my trailer and we're gonna get involved. If there are those who feel you have to cheat to win and it means that much to you, I guess that is what will happen. As far as I know mine is legal and I am coming to have fun.

Heck I figure if I pull and everything holds together I have done as good or better than alot who don't get a chance to pull at Tunica. Now i put alot of money in my old 88 LOL!!!! Looks kinda like something Larry Robbins would pull :), but I have a good time with it.

Besides, as long as I beat Jak at Tunica who cares about the rest! LMAO!!!!! !

I'm not a MGPT member, but those are my thoughts exactly. Last year I was talking to a guy on a MM 5-Star. Before the pull, he was talking about what a "hell of an event this is." He pulled and didn't fare so well. 15 minutes later there was the "biggest bunch of cheating going on..." I guess if he'd won that would have meant one of two things. Either everyone was playing fair, or he was cheating. Go figure. Whiners stay home or come have fun and shut up.

Well I have never been because that weekend is bad for me but I will give my opinions on what I feel: that owner of the blue sled is a top notch guy, does all our local pulls and HAS always done the sled operation smoothly and fairly. Don"t accuse the sled or operator of cheating because you didn"t whip up on everybody. Anyone who seems to always find fault with pulls obviously has never been in charge of one. It"s just not the cakewalk that it seems. If all these promoters that are deemed incompetent because of this, and that, said the heck with it, where would you go pull? Do you realize the sacrifice that happens for shows & events like this? People work their tails off to have these events all so some yahoos can get on the internet and moan and cry and whine about the rules, the track, and whatever else they can complain about. If someone does not like the event they attend, shut up, stay home next year, and let those who enjoy it keep the torch burning. I hate cheaters also, they should be controlled so its fair for everyone, BUT it goes on EVERYWHERE, you may not notice it, but it does. Theres nothing worse than a cheater, but a crybaby is a close second.

If you are going to complain about certain pullers cheating then you need to name who you saw cheating or who your buddy "thinks" was cheating. Call them out!

Either you ae trying to stir something up or you got beat last year.
I hope you have the guts to name names, and use YOUR name as I did!

If you joker's don't think rpm's matter then you haven't seen the a flywheel explode and cut a tractor in half like I did last fall, pieces flew over the grandstand and 300 feet in both directions. Years ago a guy gave me a DC case block that grenaded at 1200 rpm's the whole stide was gone, I took it to some pulls for expo, could just as well talked to a tree !I suppose it would be ok for my 9 year old son to get killed by schrapnel as long as the guy wins! Get real, the metalurgy in old tractors is not top notch and 3000rpm is too much for most cast flywheel/ pressure plate assemblies. Blankets should be required if rpm's are not controlled.

Should a tractor let go at 3000 RPM it is a big deal, lots of shrappenel going all over.

RPM's matter alot, or else vehicles wouldn't downshift going up a hill would they? They do it to stay in their powerband, and if you start out higher you have a longer ways to fall in the powerband before you stall. It needs to be enforced for both safetys sake and fairness.

One out of how many, read the page on the pull, they don't want to hear it. I have heard from numerous pullers who have not been but can't wait to this year. Last time I looked it was all mph classes who cares how many rpm's if you can't go but so many mph during any class. Get over your self importance and go have fun. Who ever made any money tractor pulling anyways.

AMEN on the RPM's not mattering when you have a speed limit. If the weight, hitch and tires are correct, then where or how many carburetors or how many rpms DOES NOT MATTER!! You're only going to go so fast. Worry about something that actually matters..... .

Who do you know that they DQ'd? The only one I know they DQ'd last year was for illegal-sized tires, and he's friends with at least one of the MGPT members. I'll take the "one" back. I forgot about the IH 460 with 3 carbs on it, so that makes two I knew of. Who else? I'd also like to see that instrument you have that reads RPM without touching the tractor. That would come in handy. I'm not being smart. I'm serious with these questions.

The driver told me himself that it had 3 carbs on it. I didn't see any reason he would lie about that since he had to know it was against the rules. Later, a MGPT member said he told them the same thing. I didn't see any reason they would lie either. What difference would it make how they were mounted? It's illegal, and as Spotter has posted, he actually didn't get DQ'd for having 3 carbs. He got DQ'd for refusing to allow an official to inspect under the side shields.

Maybe I can set this straight and we can be done with this discussion. The puller was not DQ'd for having three carbs although he admitted he was running three. He was DQ'd for refusing to remove the side shields when asked to do so by an official.

He was then barred for sending a friend to the payout table and picking up prize money that was not rightfully his after he had been DQ'd. That's the story as it happened. I know because I was the official that confronted him. End of conversation....Spotter

maybe someone who doesn't care how many rpm's a tractor is turnig has never saw one come apart and rip everthing up around it. Common sense, if you have any, these tractors were designed 60-75 years ago, and not supposed to be turning twice the rpms. rpm rules are there for a reason, being enforced is another matter.

ever hear of a steel flywheel and clutch assembly. You must assume a lot since you don't know me. I have turned way over 3000 but always with steel components. BTW, if you think that rpm is everything then you haven't been pulling very long.

I never said it was smart to turn a zillion RPM, BUT the point I was trying to make is that someone being over on RPM, when there is a speed limit, is not an excuse for getting beat.

There is a big difference between being over a couple hundred and a couple thousand. Couple hundred probably isnt going to hurt anything whereas the couple thousand certainly can. The bad thing is that you cant look from the outside and see if it has good parts in it or cobbled up junk.
