I just got the new headgaskets back on and retorqed down to 175 ft lbs after warm up...Then i went to my second pull and had no problems with head gaskets but....she breaks up under a load.Iput new distributer bushings in top n bottom,nice n snug...points are set at .o20 and plugs at set at.025..The valves are set at cam grinders specs of .o20 exh and .o18 int hot..I even chacked the float setting and its fine..I can get rid of this breaking up..Goin down the road in 5th at half throttle and nailin it makes her skip( break up)Ive been running cold autolites and 112 octane fuel at 195 psi per cyl.Advancing or retarding dist dont do nothin...GOT any ideas? I just sent for a petronics ignition today matbe that will do it....Any ideas would help....THANX

It almost sounds to me like it may be running lean if you nail the throttle and it pops and cracks.

I finally had to use a pertronics plus a 6A MSD box, with a MSD coil. This seems to work with heavy plug wires and a good dis cap. If I had to do it over I would convert a noncomputer HEI distributer.
