JD 60 with powerblock

Just wondering what the bore and stroke dimensions should be on a jd 60 with a power block? Also does 75 hp sound about right or do we got something wrong?

John Deere A with power block is more like 47 on dyno. I know because I had one last year and ran it on my dyno a couple of times.

If a power block is all that has been done to your tractor, then you have a 6.75" stroke and I believe (but may be wrong) that the bore on a 60 Power block was 6.125". 75 horsepower is definitely high if ALL that's been done to the tractor is have a power block put in. 55 hp is probably more likely.

The Power Blocks for A's and 60's originally had a 6 inch bore. The stroke mentioned is correct. Around 55 h.p. is about right at rated speed if the tractor is otherwise stock. Hope this helps. Mike

your A has 6 3/4" stroke and a 6" bore, its now a 382 cid engine, 55 hp is a stretch without alot of intensive head work and camshaft work , you at best pick up 10 hp on this combo. put a 9 1/4" crank behind that powerblock and it will run really well for you, and will live a long time, would be around 545 cid.

Fifty five h.p. is very doable. My 60 has a similar setup in it and it runs more than this at rated speed, tested on my own dyno. Higher numbers can be had but not at rated speed. Mike

I have a 1950 A with a Heisler Head, Bored 0.125 over, stock stroke. Tractor pulls 5700 lbs, 6200 lbs, 6700lbs, and on a good day with out a good bitting track can pull 7200 lbs. This is with 16.9 38 tires. This tractor has creeper gear but we pull in 2nd gear in all these classes most of the time. Was just wondering if anyone would make a guess as to how much HP this tractor would be making? Thanks for any input. Oh yes this tractor has stock cam.
