Late JD A valve possibilities

What larger valves can be used in a late JD A? Can the "hump" be removed from inside the intake bowl? Looks like the exhaust side will accomodate larger valves. Intake seems a little 'iffy'. Are the intakes and exhaust supposed to be different lengths or has someone replaced mine? Intake is 7.75 and exhaust is 7.5 long.

You didnt say how big of engine this is for, but unless it is just huge, I would go with the stock valves. Putting a larger valve in the intake side is just going to shroud the airflow even more around the eyebrow. I know of a cylinder head for a red tractor that acutally LOST flow with a bigger valve. Keep this in mind.

You can roll the edge of the eyebrow back, but you cant cut it completely out w/o hitting water. You can have the whole intake valve area filled in and eliminate the eyebrow, but that gets more involved and more expensive.

Stock cubes. A good cleanup may be in order. You are right about the shrouding. You would have to cut the area beside the valve back some and that would reduce compression. Probably not worth the loss. Any problem with cutting the seat area for hardened seats? Mine are in sad shape. Stuck motor, not a running tractor so the valve seats were attacked by rust pretty bad. Needs seats to get it right.
