Shop to get crank stroked

Hey all! Been calling around to shops to get a Farmall 350 crank stroked out to 5 1/2". Every shop I have talked to won't touch it. They say that by going with that much of a stroke, they will cut into the oil gallery in the crank.

Does anybody know of a shop between Toronto and Ottawa that can stroke a Farmall crank? What info should I be telling them when I call a shop to get the crank done?

Sid:Have you tryed Canadian Chromeplating and Crankshaft? 55 Torbarrie Rd. Downsveiw 416-249-7495. Tell them it is for an Oliver.(They like working on the good stuff!!!!)

Thanks for the info Tom! I'm assuming that if I tell them I want this crank stroked from 4 1/4" to 5 1/2" they will say sure. Pick it up in a couple weeks. From the reading I have done here, it seems as simple as that but every shop that I have talked to say that I can't get that much stroke. It's even hard to find a shop that does crank work of any kind.

When I called Canadian Chromeplating and Crankshaft, they asked if the crank was for an Oliver. I told them no it was for a Farmall and they said good as it would be a waste of time if it was. LOL! Couldn't resist. Anyway's, thanks for the info. I appreciate it.

I'll make ya a heck of a deal on mine...6" 2.08 journal, and throw in the rod bearings AND the block which I have clearanced alot out of ( need to send you pics, its cool) AC

Ship it UPS and it won't matter where the shop is located. Find the best shop and git it done!

They can fix that easily at 5-1/2 stroke. Had to do some work to fix at 5-3/4 but worked out very well. Just do it, and then they will see its not so bad to repair. ChadS

If a shop doesnt want to do it because they dont want to mess w/ the oil galleys, it just means they are lazy. Sometimes they will move the rod journal away from the oil galley and then you have to have an offset rod and offset the bearings...its a PITA. There ARE places that will weld it shut and redrill it right and you not have to mess w/ all that.

I know of a couple places in the midwest that will do it, but none in your area.
