What machining is required to make a sleeved C263 accept C301 pistons? What do you guys do about the void in the block where the sleeve flange was? Thanks for any and all info.

If you bore a c301 to 4" it is about a 50/50 chance it will brake through. If you are successful you need to hard block it all the way to the top. I've been there!

Do you know of a 4" piston that will fit the stock rod?

Thanks, Farmall Daddy. I bought a 301 LP motor from a 806 and planned to put it in my 560 (which is stuck). When I tore the 301 apart, I found it had been bored .60 over already and the cylinder walls were pitted so I guess that block is junk. I guess I"ll bore the 263 to accept 301 pistons and use the 806 cam, governor, and LP cylinder head and manifolds. It should wake that old 560 right up!

Are 4 of those LP pistons salvageable? If so, I'd be interested in them...Andrew

That 806 lp engine had been bored .60 over and standard firecraters installed I think. The # on top of the piston is 392828R2.

I took my '62 560 from a 263 ci out to a 301. All I did was bore the block from the original 3 9/16 piston out to the 3 13/16 which comes out to be boring the block an 1/8" on each side which will bore the block to a full 1/4" when your done with it. My pistons were bored right to the block for a tight fit due to we didn't know how close the water jackets were. My 560 dyno'd 81 horse with just the pistons put into the block. Since then, I had new valve guides put in, and the head was trued up, and on a good day, I'm guestimating it should turn aroun 85-88 horse. Hope this helps, and good luck!!
