JD A and 60 Comparison???

I posted a message earlier about changing a A block and head with a 60 block and head. I looked up the cubes and everything is the same according to my book. Is there any difference? I was thinking about a 730 deisel block and head. How would this compare? Is there any deisel set up that would work on this. Maybe out a 70? This is late model A that I would put it in. Thanks for your help.

your probably dealing with a very large can of worms and alot of work to make it work and look good, most clubs and pulling circles really frown on not using the original engine. it is illegal in nearly any rules I have seen. I would really avoid having a morphadited tractor.

Technically, anything is "possible", but it's going to take mountains of time, work and money to put 70/720/730 Diesel parts in an "A". First of all simply because an "A" is nowhere near wide enough to accomodate them, either in the main case or between the frame rails. The "A" wa succeeded by the 60, 620 and 630. The "G" by the 70, 720 and 730. Even then, it would still be a huge job to slap those parts in a "G". You're not dealing with a small-block Chevy scenario, where you can mix and match parts at will.
