I am working on a late G right now with the F550R block. The tractor has a flat head on it. What would the compression ratio be with this setup with aluminum pistons? This tractor will likely be a puller only. Mike

You can put aluminum pistons in a G with a flat head.Just do not expect to run pump gas.Should be around 11.5 to 1 compression ratio. With everything right you should have 70-73 HP.Have to use good studs also.

I am boring 52 g on lp. Would like to know what pistons are best in there. What comp to be at? How much i want to take off block and head? the head is not a flat head. Block is not a powerblock. I've heard of m & w pistons high comp and also federal mogul high comp. which are better? What kind of hp can i expect with stroking? jc

Mike,
What ever you do, do not put domed pistons in the G. Doing this will make too much compression and lose power and torque. A buddy of mine has a GW and decided to put a flat head with the domed pistons and then ended up putting the STYLED model head back on it. So go with flat top pistons. I dont know what the compression ratio is(sorry).
