Hi, I am helping my brother-in-law with a WD Allis that he is rebuilding to pull in the FFA classes. He has a Gleaner E combine engine that is going in it. Does anyone have any "tricks of the trade" that would help him increase his horsepower even more or other tips for tire size, gear ratios, etc for pulling? Has the straight shifter. Thanks!

I run a WD with a Gleanor motor in it, 14.9-38 wheels on a 16" rim. I got her down to 3500# which was difficult but I've never been below 3rd place at pull. The motor has never been into either, I run 2nd gear - I dont have any complaints with that govenor but I run in stock rpm class. There are several changes that need to be made to stuff the motor in there also.
