I'm taking my 1952 A to a guy who has a dyno this weekend. what PTO hp can I expect and how does that equate to drawbar hp? I'd like to know how much power i'm actually putting out at the tires. thanks

Not trying to be sarcastic, but without knowing anything about your tractor and what's been done to it I would say you should see anywhere between 20 and 100 HP. I've seen them at both ends of the spectrum. If you have a typical A with .125 over M&W style pistons, a cam that isn't worn out (including bearings), properly adjusted valves, properly adjusted carb and timing, valves sealing properly, no blowby from rings, 40 HP give or take a couple. When I put my 60 on the dyno the 1st time I thought it had always run pretty good, but it only had 30 HP @ 540 PTO rpm's. Half an hour later with some tuning I had 42 HP (only mods from stock are .125 over M&W's). I think the Nebraska tests would rate drawbar HP at 75 percent of PTO HP, but not sure of that info.Good luck, Mike

The 75 percent drawbar hp as compared to PTO hp I mentioned earlier is incorrect. Rated drawbar HP is 75 percent of max drawbar HP in the Nebraska tests. The 1947 Nebraska test showed 34.14 max drawbar HP for a gasoline A
