Been reading your articals on 300 and 350 engines being installed in farmall H's. I am looking at a installing a 300 utility engine into a H. Is their any difference between a 300 utility vs a 300 row crop engine besides the RPM.Looking at trying for 50hp out of the engine and still do light farm work. Red your artical on the pistons also. I am looking at Tisco step pistons or Gould fire crater. Would these work to develop this power or is their a better system to use that will be more effective. Looking at 3-5/8" bore. Is the utility cam different and will it be sufficient for this along with the carb. Will be looking at the govenors also to see if some mods can be made on them. I am looking at running this engine at 2100 RPM. Thanks

Ill have to double check the book on the ute blocks,, Ive been told there is something different,,, Ill check it out for sure,, but everything else is interchangable. Cams for the row crops and utes are the same grind, they just turned them up higher,, Tisco kits would get you close, maybe in the high 40's, you will have to do some more head work to get it in the 50's,,, probably mill the head, and build the carb. Tisco kits are firecraters for the 169-175 blocks,, the stepped head pistons are found in the H-SH. Thats a smaller bore though,,, Should be close to what you want in HP,, and use it for farmin,, gotta get the compression up. Chad
