i recently purchased a 1952 john deere A that i want to use at antique pulls. what are some small/not-to-pricey things i can do to increase my power and go further down the track??? thanks in advance to all

If you pull in 1st, you won't need any more power. I would like the other gentleman said, unhook the breather, it really chokes out the airflow. Yan can get a teeny bit more power if you know what you are doing by playing with the timing & carb settings.

If it runs ok, all you need is 1st gear and get the weight right..!! Maybe put 15.5x38" tires on 14" rims if you want.

High compression pistons or a powerblock is the next choice..

Well we also lower the tire pressure in the rear tires it make them squat down, b/c i dont know what size of tire you have i can only tell you that the bottom of the tire should bullge outward some about an inch or 2. good luck

You can take the oil bath off and put a dry type filter on there and let that motor breathe. Put electronic ignition on it so you can run hot plugs and wires, and put a straight pipe on it. With these few modifications you should have a good farm class tractor with the creeper gear.

52 A Boy - that all sounds good in theory, but he hasn't changed the size of the engine. All that's going to do is lighten his wallet. A good mag or distrubutor will let you run whatever plugs you want. Plugs don't make power either. Like the other guy said, run creeper gear, figure out your weights, and then look at stroking the engine - the single biggest thing you can do to increase power.
