I've been around tractor pulls for 40 yrs and reading on here for about 2 months. Seems like every time A rule gets changed whether its Rpm limit,speed limit,cubic in. limit, age limit,or whatever its changed to elimnate or help someone.The rules just keep going in circles.I bet every club has never had the same rules two years in a row. It always seems to come down to who ever spends the most money on their machine wins. Skill of driver helps also.

I'm not saying any of this to make anyone mad.

What is the solution I'm not sure.

It's an exspensive hobby. But its about the only hobby that gets so competitive. So don't plan on winning every time unless you spend tons of money on your hobby.

We sponsered a pull here for 25 yrs and had to quit because of lack of spectators. When the locals quit pulling because of cost, the locals quit coming to watch.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree with you. It's all about the money. The rich guy can't stand getting beat by the poor guy that actually does farmwork with his tractor. I feel sorry for some of these guys pulling in the farmstock classes now. Pulling Open class sure ain't easy either. I've spent about all I'm going to spend on my tractor, which ain't a drop in the bucket compared to most modified rigs, but I just don't have it to spend. You're right though. Rules change about as often as the weather, and most of them aren't safety related. That's the first clue to what it's really about. I still love the game though.

Nothing makes me grin more than beating a fancy machine on my $1500 rust, primer, and greasy Moline. It doesn't happen that often, but enough to have some fun. The shiny beaten Deere and Farmall fail to see the humor in the situation.
