jd a rough idle

i have a jd a with a dtlx 72 carb. it runs fine except at idle. it will idle perfect if you pull choke out a little. if you push back in it will idle rough off the governor. how can i fix this. thanks in advance.

Sounds like it could be a problem in the carburetor's idle circuit starving it for fuel, and it requires just a touch of choke to fatten it up enough to run correctly. You might also check for vacuum leaks.

You may just be "one click" off on the idle mixture...they can be kind of particular..!!

Sounds like one or more of the passages in the carb are plugged. Take the carb of, and clean all of the passages.
