Well I understand some of the local NC pulling associations are going to top cut tires in the stock classes. I'm actually glad to see it. There's been a lot of disputes regarding "road worn" tires as opposed to intentionally "cut" tires, some clubs allowed them and some didn't. I think it will level the playing field, especially when the track isn't that great. 'Got as feeling a lot of doctored tires were slipping through before anyway. 'Hopefully it will settle some of the disputes and give some of the more honest pullers a better chance to be competitive. I realize it's not necessarily a new topic on this board, but wondered what some of you gentlemen and lady pullers might think in regards to it. In my opinion new tractor tires aren't exactly cheap and it's hard for me to justify replacing a set just because the front edge of the cleat is rounded off a little.

My opinion is that if you start allowing cut tires, the normal out of the field or hobby tractor will just have another strike, our local clubs get quite a few hobby pullers that use their tractors on the farm. Cut tires are expensive and have to redone occasionally to keep them sharp. It isn't hard to tell cuts, and once the puller is told the tires aren't legal then he will either change them or stay home. If you want to run cuts run Div 3 or up.

I have always wondered why clubs fear cut tires so much. If they allow top cuts they are pretty much admitting that it is only the front cut they fear. Why not just allow cut tires and be done with it? Instead of doing a lot of infighting, level the playing field and get a set of cut tires. I"ve always wondered about that, but I wonder about a lot of things someday..:) Mike

Hey Flogger! I am looking forward to pulling with cut tires mainly because of the bite. I will have the expense of another set of rims and tires, and the headache of changing over for the clubs that have not switched to cut tires, USAP pulls with cuts so it will help out when we pull with them, hard to compete otherwise. Hopefully one day all the clubs will adapt their (USAP) rules, they are very fair and seem to have postive feedback from the pullers. Just my opinion.

What kind of rules does Northbrook go by? Do they have all their pulls at the same location and where? 'Been hearing about the Northbrook pull for years but never have made it to one.
