Why do you need more power out of an A. If it is in "creeper gear" and your not pulling over 8000lbs. then you shouldn't be having any problem. The only good reason to bore one is the awesome sound it makes.

Creeper gear is not the greatest thing since sliced bread!! Granted, you have enough power to spin out, but ground speed is your friend! If you have enough power to run 2nd+ gear, you are much better off. That way you have some momentum and dont stop in the first little hole your tires fall into.

If going faster wasnt better, they wouldn't have a speed limit, now would they?

And to add an answer to Kurt's question, a set of roller rockers will bolt on 3-5hp without having to tear into the engine.

Well Drew, it is obvious that if he is wanting to spend as little money as possible he ain't wanting to pull in the outlaw class. I was just merly telling him it was stromg enough to pull as it is.

Most A blocks can be bored to .250 over. SOME can go to 5.875" and use 70 gas pistons but the block must be cast with bores prefectly centered.

Is it practical to bore an A or 60 block out enough to take an ordinary dry 3/16" wall sleeve with a G's 6-1/8 bore? Or is that getting into water sealing problems at the top and bototm of the sleeve? I've heard people swear by "Muggy Weld" to weld sleeves in without cracking.

You can cut those blocks out and weld sleeves in them. But when you do that, you dont stop at 6.125". If its already set up in the machine, its not any more work to keep cuttin' and to 6.500" (if you arent supposed to see the sleeves from the outside), or if appearence doesn't matter, 6.750" And then if it leaks water, you smear windshield goo on the weld bead.

The Power Block for the "A" has a 6" Bore... Normally the +.125" is readily available...frr the standard block..
