I just checked out thetractorshop.com, somebody tell me more about the 730 pulling deadweight. Is that on a street in a residential area? It's definitely somebodys front yard. Just curious, my kind of neighborhood.

Its on a side street at a local festival. Its a pretty large pull, usually starts at 9am, aint done till 3 am the next morning. That is our 58 730 gasser, pulls from 9000lb to 11,500lbs. It does well, those ol 2 lunger deeres do quite well in deadweight pulling. The right torque for the weight dad says,,, cant kill em! even stock ones! Whatcha wanna know? Chad

I'd like to see that sometime. Is it in northern Indiana? We're in SE IN, I think they still pull deadweight in rushville when the wheat is off. I've pulled a lot of transfer sleds, but still never pulled deadweight. Heard plenty about it though, the old man is a veteran from way back. Super H 4000# champ.

What type of tire do you run on asphalt, does it help to run them backwards?

On the 730, we run Firestone 151"s, (new) 15.5x38"s dualed up. The softer compound of a new tire seems to bite better on the streets. We run them backwards, its been said that they bite better that way, I have to agree with that, Yes, its in Northern Indiana, usually, all the deadweight pulls are in the Wabash Indiana area. There are some ultra tough WD"s at that weight, so, you may have to be ready to battle it out with em. The picture was taken at Roann, Indiana in late September of this year. Chad

That is indeed pulling on someone's neighborhood street. From what I understand, there are quite a few festival pulls that are held on asphalt in that area. I had a chance to watch some asphalt pulling back in the summer, it was interesting, none the less. Don't have to worry about a rain out.
