My advice would be take your pertronix out and throw it AWAY. MSD recommends points over those cheap conversion units. Since the points are only used to trigger the MSD box and there is very low voltage, >2V, a new set of points will last forever. If you decide to go ahead and use the pertronix, keep all of your points stuff in a box and put it in your truck. This will come in handy when the pertronix takes a crap at the track. Also look how tight the magnetic rotor fits on the distributor shaft. Since all distributors have some were on them, unless they are new, this will allow the magnetic collar to move around on the shaft. Unless you glue it on, it will walk around and effect you timming. Hope this helps.

Good thing you didnt listen to millers instructions, you didnt say you were using a crank trigger, it probably would have smoked your box or just wouldnt have worked, most of us antiquers are not using the crank trigger option.

I went through the same thing, wire it according to the "amplifier diagram" and you'll be fine.

I have a copy of the diagram here somewhere, if you dont get it figured out in a day or so, I will try to scan it and email it to you, I think I found it on a search on this sight , I can look at my instructions if you need.

Here is the correct hook up for the Pertronix Igniter. hook the Red to the Violet MSD and the Black to the Green MSD.
These wires are routed together in one harness to form the Magnetic
Pickup connector. The connector plugs directly into an MSD
Distributor or Crank Trigger. It will also connect to factory magnetic
pickups or other aftermarket pickups. The Violet wire is positive (+)
and the Green is negative (-). When these wires are used, the White
wire is not.
Violet
and Green
(Magnetic
Pickup
Connector)
If you would of looked at your MSD instructions it would of told you this.
