If you dont go hog wild on the bore, you can use a 329 Deere (2.75) crank pin at a 9.25"ish stroke and it should last awhile. If you go with a big bore, I would use a small block Deere or 400 series IH crankpin (3.000 pin) at 9-9.25"ish. On a late A, the oil filterhead kinda gets in the way moreso than an early tractor, but you can work around it. You are looking at $1000-$1200 to get a crank made.

For rods, you can cut and weld rods or get custom billets made.

How big of bore depends on how deep your pockets are. You can get a power block (6-6.125") for $1k +/- or get a block sleeved to 6.750" for $1200 + a block to start with. Custom billet pistons are available for the big bore blocks.

where do you get your custom billet pistons and what do they cost? Who puts in the sleeves? Are their any problems with billet rods and crankshafts on John Deeres.

My rods and pistons are from Murphy's. A set of 6.750" pistons will run you about $750ish and the rods are about the same to a little more, depending on how wide they are. Jack's Automotive in Hooper, NE did the sleeve work.

If you are going to have a set of billet rods made and a new crankshaft at the same time, it can save you $$$$ if the crankshaft guy and the rod guy talk before any parts are made. This way you can make your rods out of narrower (ie: cheaper) material and they still fit your crank properly.
