A new gas station just opened close to where I live, and noticed they have an E-85 pump. I drive a Caprice Clasic with a 305 V8, it has the Quada-Jet Carburetor. 1st question-Is there a way to modify this so E-85 will work, or doesn't need anything at all. 2nd question- Does a performance or enhanced ignition system help.
3rd- If there is a way I can run this fuel, what happens when I have to re-fuel with "ordinary" 10% blend gas. Was wondering if anyone had any experence, advice or sugestions on using this.

You could get it to run on e85 by re-jetting to the appropriate richer mixture (about 30 or 40% more fuel) but your major problem would be with incompatable materials in your fuels sytem. Alcohol will deteriorate the gaskets, hoses, pump diaphram and seals of the earlier systems that were not designed for it and even cause increased corrosion in certain metallic parts. And more than that, the 15 or 20 years of crud that attached to the surfaces inside your system will come loose and cause plugging of fuel filters until it is all cleaned out. You will not be able to switch back and forth like the computerized "flex fuel" cars. YOu are stuck with one fuel.... JIm
