Hey Don Could you please describe to me what you mean by "Classic" Farm Stock. I was too young to know what the rules were back then. But am now very interested to know what they were

hey 1975. It is N.E Ohio, Troy township, Geaugua county. The other flip to the problem is the guy with the 4010 that's still stock (and hooked the the s*** spreader) doesn't have a place to pull, cause his 4010 isn't "antique" Don

I thought you were from Geauga - gathering from your other posts. Beautiful up there. Specially this time of year with the snow and all. My uncle and two cousins live just south of geauga and that's were we keep our stuff on their farm. They were big pullers in 70s and 80's and thats why I like it so much. If you went to the OxRoast you probably saw my brother and I get our butts kicked on our stock 4010 and 6030. we're learning. I think what your thinkin would be great up their. Does that 4010 your talkin about have black side screens? I seen alot of people at the Roast that I have seen down at Mile branch and bunker. I think they would make the drive 3-5(?) times in a summer. Any ideas on rules? Too bad they only do the Ox Roast, I think they get a good turn out there.
Tom

I am assuming you want turbos to pull. What we have done at the antique pulls around here is list a non turbo class. Lots of folks seem tl like ot watch them and a antique sled has no problem stopping then. As for the 1466, I watched a 1286? V-8 get beat this year by a 966 , just happened one got a better bite on the track but a win is a win.

If your wanting turbos you might check the NTPA site Mis-south or KenTenn Pullers site and ask around there. there are alot of folks on those who pull the newer tractors and might have some good ideas on a cutoff year.

I personally like watching the non turbos as that was the years of tractors I remember and used most. I have an old 1800 Oliver that did ok for running on 5 cylinders. It is in the shop now and maybe next year she'll blow a little black smoke. We try to keep it down to farm stock rules in the non turbo which me and factory hitch and tires and such, trying for an out-of-the-field type thing.

Where are you? Might have to ride there someitme and check it out if you cna get something going.

our 4320 pulls dang awful good in farm stock classes and beats quite a few of them 1466 and other big IH tractors....but then again..our A won the 8000 against 866 or wutever tractors and 4010/4020 tractors....and got 2nd in the 9000, so the antiques can do good against the new tractors as long as there is some length issues delt with (no 4010 comin out with a 5 foot weight bracket)..where we pull, most don't have tire size limits, which can make if rough sometimes....but the little 16.9x38's pull right with them 20.8x42's...if it was me..i'd prolly have like a 197? cut off year...

Where is 4320puller from? He sounds awfully familar. But I agree, most antiques can competite with the 1970ish year tractors, especially those antique's that have been enhanced horsepower wise. Most of the antique guy's that are doing the sqawkin are the ones with all the horsepower, and are afraid of a little competition from a stock 70ish tractor that hasn't had thousand's of dollars dumped into their motor. People are going to have to open their eyes and minds if they want the younger generations to keep this sport going. They did not for the most part, grow up driving what is now considered antique's, they grew up on the 60-70ish and newer tractors. And most kids (mine included!) don't want to pull my antique, they want to drive my 60-70ish diesel tractor that makes some smoke. And if they're only option is pulling the antique's they don't even want to go to the pull. Just something to think about.

i don't know about your kids..but there is nothing better then to beat all the new tractors on a lil ol 427 CI A jd with lil ol 16.9's on it.....i do agree though..they need to get the age up so the 4020/1066? something IH..i dunno..haha...can get in there too...but keep the speed limit down where all can compete..like 3-5mph....in that range.....and have classes like we have up here 1K a whack...from 3-7, and then it jumps to 9, and then 13500....a NICE range..where might u be from dieselpuller?

I think 3-5 mph would be too slow. I think younger people would get bored with that. Too impatient. If your are going to have 3-5 mph you might as well stick to antiques. of course 30 mph might b a turn off as it might cost too much to get there.
