i was impressed with the tunica pull, VERY large turn out and was a fun day. the only thing i wasn't too impressed with was the sand trap track. is there any place close to there that has some good clay? for some reason i figured it would be some of that heavy mississippi clay. other then that, it was VERY well orginized and i was super impressed, good job to all who contributed.

I have been on a fair board for 21 years and something we all have to realize is that antique tractor pulls is not the number one priorty to arena managers and board members. So Spotter has to tread lightly with the arena personal. The Tunica pull is the number one pull in the country as far as I'm concerned. So if we have to deal with sand so be it. First time we have been there, sand or no sand all I can say its one heck of a pull

I have to agree 100%. I would sure like to think the Mean Green folks would want to address there only problem. With a show of this size and numbers there should be no reason not to come up with some decent dirt for a track. If they told the arena folks they were going to cancel this program next year if they couldn't, I bet they would put some effort in to getting some clay. I am sure Mean Green pay them well for the use of this facility!! As one guy said at the pull, Quote: "The only thing this track is missing is the ocean water splashing against the sides of it and the umbrellas and girls in there bikinis laying on top of it. Take no offense, Mean Green has got a heck of a good thing started and going and they deserve credit. A good track would make it the best number one antique tractor pulling event in the country. Thanks for the great program.

I'll be first or in fact was the first to admit the track was not to the liking of Mean Green and I wish we had the power of authority that many feel we do regarding our relationship with the Arena. There are other promoters standing in line to hold their events with them and some that are presently seeking our dates. So threats to pull our event would be meaningless.

Tunica County "owns" the dirt and provides the man-power to build the track. 300 feet X 80 feet X 3 feet is getting close to 3000 yards. Hauling that much in on 15 yard "dumps" would take 200 loads. So hopefully one can see that it would be a major undertaking to replace these quantities and not one with little expense attached. Twenty thousand dollars would probably be a conservative figure.

But...we (Mean Green) will be doing all we can to improve the situation for next year. I personally intend to meet with Arena management next week to voice our appreciation for their participation as well as our concerns regarding the quality of the track and to seek their advice as to what our options might be.....Spotter

I would think and easy solution to this would be next year just post on here what the track is and let everyone set up for it. Here in Northwest tn we pull on just about any type of track there can be. I have left black marks on some, couldnt hang enough weight on the front ot hold it down on others and dug through sand on some as well. As long as it is the same track for everyone I just go with the program.

Matter of fact I was impressed enough with everything that I think Jak and I are coming down to pull next year. Now we pull uncut tires and farm stock, might make a difference but as long as everyone is pulling in the same stuff it is fine. At least next year everyone will know which tires to bring and how ot set things. Haha except us of course but what the heck it's FUN right! :)

Mean Green, great job! really impressed with how you had things flowing, 400+ hooks a day takes alot to pull off and you all did it well.

Ya'll come on up this spring and pull with us in NW Tennessee. We'll have some fun pull a little, tell a few lies... oh wait a minute we would NEVER do that....LMAO!!!!

SPOTTER---AS A PROMOTER I HAVE RUN TO THE SAME CONDITIONS FOLLOWING HORSE PEOPLE. THEY LOVE 20 TONS OF SAND IN THE DIRT TO KEEP FROM HURTING THEIR HORSE. EVERYONE HAS THEIR TYPE OF DIRT. SO ITS HARD TO CHANGE A PLACE THAT YOU ONLY USE ONCE A YEAR FOR THE BIGGEST PULL, BU----T THEY DON"T SEE US AS THEY DO THE HORSE PEOPLE THAT USE THE ARENA MORE. WHAT WE CALL BIG IS NOT IMPORTANT TO THEM BECAUSE THEY HAVE MORE OTHERS IN THERE THAN US. SO I THINK YOU MAY HAVE TO DO AS WE HAVE ADD SOME PRODUCTS (LIME, LIQUID FERILIZER)TO THE TRACK TO GET IT THE WE WAY YOU WANT,BU----- T SOMETIME THEY DON"T LIKE THAT EITHER. SO ITS SOMETHING WE LIVE WITH OR JUST ADD TO THE DIRT TO BRING AROUND TO OUR LIKING AND DON"T TELL. HA HA JUST A COMMENT FROM SOMEONE WHO FIGHTS THIS ON 20 TRACKS A YEAR. JOHN LAMPKIN---USAP

Who has the number one antique tractor pull event if it isn't the Southern Nationals at Tunica?
