Glad to be able to help you. What all are you planning on doing? A 305, 327, 350? I am just curious because like I said, I was once thinking of doing one after I get a car. Car will come first, then I will have to pay it off and save up for a WD or WD45. I always thought an unstyled WC would look really awsome with a V8 and straight pipes coming out of the side of the hood on each side. Plus, a WC with a bad motor is pretty easy to come by for little money. Good luck with your project. If you don't mind, I would be interested in updates and what you find out when doing it incase I ever do get a chance to tackle one of my own. I was just wondering about rpms in the driveline and then also strain. I calculated the top speed as 45.5 mph at about 6000 rpms on a chevy small block (that was a 375 horse rebuilt small block for spec purposes and had 420 ft lbs of torque-just a random nice engine on Ebay at the time that had specs). Hey Hurst.Iam looking for a WD -WD45 But I live in VT., there a are a lot harder to come buy at a good price. I think the engine is easy to come by. I guess the backing plate would have to be custom, steering controls,etc. I think this would be a cool,and fun project. I will keep looking for a tractor. Do you known if the newer WC had foot brakes? Iam now pulling a WD with a strong 226,and a very very mean 77 oliver per say stock... Pulling is GREAT.. Have a great day .

The WC, no matter what the year never came from the factor with footbrakes, styled or unstyled. There are, however, a good hand full of them out there that have the aftermarket conversion. I know what you mean about the hand brakes with a project like this. Something doesn't quite add up: A tractor that can nearly top out at 50 mph and to stop it evenly on each wheel you have to take your hands off the steering wheel lol. Also, I am not sure that there ever was a WC wide front made either. I would say that a WD or WD 45 would be your best bets. They had electric start from the factory. I also would be willing to bet that you would be able to use the rear adaptor plate, but you may have to drill holes to make it match and also you may be able to use the front timing plate to some degree. The reason I would try to stick to these is because they bolt onto the frame rails perfectly. What motor were you thinking about putting in there? I wonder what an old ford flathead would be like in one of those tractors :). Keep me updaye, I am very interested in how this project turns out.
