WD-45D more fuel/power??

We are pulling our WD-45D. Under a good pull it smokes, but it doesn't ever turn to the good black color I have seen other 45D's. The screw on the pump has been turned to about its max.. The injectors have only been set to the stock pop off psi.. We are planning to increase the injector pressure.. but are there any other injectors (bigger) that will work. (out of an Oliver??) What about the injectors out of a D19, are they bigger??? What about the pump out of a D 19?? Just looking for some more HP... I know some of the Olivers used this same injection system, and same style pump.. and they any bigger?? Thanks for any info...

The 45D suffers from the L-a-n-o-v-a system. Very easy to over fuel. Ask the MF 44D or MM people.

Do not turn the injection pressure up, this will actually result in less fuel because the pump has to build more pressure just to open the nozzles, therefore resulting in a loss of fuel. Make sure the nozzles are clean, all set at the manufactures spec. and shooting straight into the lavona cell. Unless you are running faster rpms than stock playing with the timming will not help much. The best thing you can do is make sure it is set to the original spec. I once had a 1030 case which hade this same basic injection system. I cleaned the injectors, played with pump timming, gave it more fuel, set the valve lash, and even cleaned the lavona cells them selves, and all I ever gat was 101 hp the exact stock rateing. It was to the point to where if I evem gave it a quarter turn on the injection pump fuel for more fuel, I would loose 20 horse. I'm 21 and been a Diesel mechanic for 5 years and been tractor pulling for 6, this is just some of the stuff I have learned through experience and school.
