are dennys piston kits, 4 1/8 bore any good? am going to put them in a super m. they are domed high compression aluminum forged pistons. would i be better off getting them or just a kit from tisco with 4 1/8 stepped head?

seen a section on e-bay, someone selling new piston kits, the piston's had alot more dome than the stock tisco piston or napa's product.
Price for the product seemed rite also.
All of these piston's are going to raise compression about 1/2 a point 6.12-1.00 to 6.5-6.7 to 1.00 ratio !
A good overhaul will help a bunch, but with stock stroke, unless you have a propane head, you will not get to 70 hp. I'm not saying it can't be done , but it's a definite push !
Denny's product is no better or worse, just the price and the claim's, also the women who answers the phone !
Only thing i've ever purchased their was elctronic ignition !

Dropping your figures, aren't you? Used to be 85 horsepower. Now it's 70-75.

Caught again? Like your 360 lb.-ft. of torque at the flywheel of a stock Super M??? You're the king of wrong numbers...

I built a 5-3/4 X 4-1/8 450 engine made 87 hp. So, yes, 70-75 is a walk in the park for that set up. JMHO, ChadS

thanks chads you are right i built one like yours but decked the block .160 to stand the pistons out of the block for more compresion. also cut the hell out of a lp head. did this about 10 years ago, tractor still runs the national circut and usally wins 2nd nation wide, spent a ton of time on the cly-head,jerry leak is the owner of the tractor a SMTA.chads i ended up with a little over 95hp.

It was my understanding they would do this in the field years ago and would run the *&% off a 560, and consequently most 2 bangers!
